Gary Davis is a semi-retired 78 year old, whose art history started in California when he was in high school. He placed third in an art competition at the state level.

 

Since his semi-retirement, he refreshed his skills in oil painting and began teaching art classes in Maine. He’s been featured in several galleries from Maine to Florida, including a one-man show in Maine.

 

Since he relocated in Sebastian, he joined the Sebastian River Art Club and has started teaching beginner Oil Painting. His method of teaching starts with picking a subject, sketching it out, creating a value study, also called a Notan, and working the Notan into a finished oil painting.
